Ghost Pepper Whopper - 10/17/2022

I do my best to avoid fast food—in fact I usually limit it to twice a year. Each splurge ends up at Burger King more often than not, and the semi-regular Halloween offerings file nicely into that schedule.

Seasonal Whoppers this time of year are nothing new. We’ve had the Spooky Whopper kick of the festivities a few years ago with an A1 infused black-out bun, that keep the party going a few days later when it made a re-appearance. Then there was the green Nightmare King with a burger and chicken patty. Finally there was a Ghost Whopper that had a far too limited run, causing much distress. I believe there were some ghost pepper chicken nuggets too, but I forget my chronology.

It matters little since we now have a new treat titled the Ghost Pepper Whopper. It’s now on a neon orange bun, with neon orange cheese and neon orange queso. Adding details, it’s coated with black sesame seeds with green fried pickles inside. Each has a hot pepper flair that provides a decent kick without being too bad. It’s no one-chip-challenge, but the average normie might be handing in their man card by the end.

But is it good? Yes, very good. No sloppy mayo and wet lettuce to make you hate your life. Only cheese upon cheese and plenty of bacon. The bun manages to retain its color too, even in its cooked state. I’d give it a hearty thumbs up if it weren’t for the price!

Seriously, when did fast food approach proper restaurant pricing?
